 Bern Is it ever possible for the public to realize how pathetically incompetent the leaders of the house are? 

Sir H not if they keep offering jail terms to those who ignore or disobey them. Locking things up works and always look like a solution  to some simpletons.  

Bern   But then the jails are full, people are cancelled and thinking people have the sense that we are not seriously avoiding quick fix . 

Sir H   Very good question, If the leaders have a scapegoat for all their meddling in managing people and things (real ecomanagement is too hard much like hard work for them ), they can distract the easily distracted screen watchers .    
The thing that keeps them live is to always, when past solutions fail, is to offer the public a new way out of jail. One that doesn't involve yet another sacrifice by the audience personally.  A distraction. A cancelling. 

Bern  
Local government agencies are calling for 24 hour curfews for cats in the suburbs . That's equivalent of a life sentence for them. The negation of an animals whole ecosystem.  Some cats might has well die. 
I can see why we cull foreign cats in the desert where there can be nowhere for little birds to hide.
Sir H   but then you cull goats who are the only real habitat degradation problem out there ,

Bern Yes But in cities there are and can be more  shrubs trees and nesting areas for birds to look down on these desperately slow and well fed earth bounds.     

SirH  The proper husbanding solution requires hard and specific planning . The people want simple solutions and the simpler and quicker the better when the problem is " someone else's"  .

Cats , like us ,are foreigners, on the landscape. We are all easily seen as new nuisance value to leaders who like the public,  don't want to think and work hard at ecosystem planning.

Hackers are not really interested in multicultural planning - it's too much like hard work . 


Jim, like his mates are mere managers of the feeding frenzy and must offer something up for sacrifice before we, the pestilence are seen to be the bigger problem .

Bern  It makes us feel good to do something and if that something doesn't involve us, we will grab it .

It makes you look like you are ahead of the game . It looks like a natural advantage. Its appeal with the party and the people is almost astronomical in nature. 
How does it work ?                  It capitalizes on the public's vulnerability to advertising 
                                                 It provides a self-righteous idea that you are an early adopter 
                                                 It provides a reason to promote your idea as an important innovation  
                                                 It provides an excuse to call the opposition laggards 
                                                  It steals the requirements  for a sound science approach One that works 

And so well in our age?          Because the moral boundary that says wannabes should not use our money to tell us how brilliant they are, has been eroded. 


THE STORY

SirH  Well even i go to confession occasionally. I thought i knew the cycles but it was  It was a surprise to see this innovation take off like it has 
Bern thinking (I wish they would all go  to confession more often ) 

what is it ? and why is it new and not a recycled idea?
Sir H Because the author of the idea is a recent bloke named Shoemaker ,and his simple idea has the imprimatur  of academia and popular ideas made simple behind him. Early adopter Late adopter ,Laggard 
Arts grads EASILY get his idea of progress and let's face it , its simple enough as a idea of progress for its popularity with such confused if not simple people  to be completely understandable . 
 

Bern an academic who put some prejudice simply - well that in itself is highly innovative.
 

Stop talking in riddles , What is this the ideas name  and why is it an example of cocontentation 

SirH  The name is Quick fix and 
the cocontentation is a combination of coincidences

the reality that much good change is due to innovations 

 

 You don't have to be the author of an innovation, you just have to use it in conversation

 3  You just have to be first ( or near the first ) to use the word in the public sphere .
Don't tell Penny Wong ; she is desperate to find some words that she can use so she doesn't just don' t send people to sleep 

3 The media and the politicians ( up till now anyway ) have taken over the conversation,

Commentary 
"Comm of Innovations " as a idea is true when the innovation actually works, It doesn't mean the innovation makes thise work more easily but it often does -- hence the ideas sustainability. 

Why doesn't it work in practice in real world politics? . It works on the surface  because it offers hope  ( most important ) and it offers it away from the past .What it ignores is fact that political problems are complex anddiffilcult often to implement ( all very easy to name the page we are on ) 
For most mature feeble minds the past is just a mess of confusion, For scientists the past is a testing ground that cannot be ignored .  While the untested'ds studied it at University or in their own promiscuous lives,  their inbuilt practice of mixing half truths ideas and imperatives naturally hasn't come to any conclusion.
NO science understood because sound science relies on testing time and conclusions.  
The current incumbents often represent the feebleminded for anything too complex gives them a headache?

Sir H He is at least appealing to a certain sector of the community who have legitimate concerns about the overly comfortable ruling class.
Look at all the readjustments between them and us in our own history 
He will be corralled by Parliament.

Bern You didn't even feed the king or his army , let alone listen to him

Sir H  Dear Bernard - you worry too much , If Kings lose their heads ,we and only we can restore them to glory      

Bern well we hope so because as we know, no decent reform is simple or happens without careful intervention education and training.

SirH  We thank God for those rare humans who admit that they don't know HOW to do everything.  

Bern Yes the other types of Hackers are the worst kind.  The ones who think they KNOW HOW.  

SirH    The worst thing is that their HACKERS have never had such a mandate to slash and burn 

Bern Or as big a Swords including 2 year deadlines

 When Antony Jay first had the idea of showing off what really happens up top, I wrote to him and said.
" You realize that this exposure will make it even harder for us to do our job! While it's awfully fun serious to come home to see this on the TV, the fact is , that he will watch it too and can be expected to make our jobs much harder.

The rest of this note is fiction but in his long letter back to me, the wonderful Antony did address the dilemmas of telling the truth in that context.  His letter is better than any award or recognition I could have received for quietly doing my public service job for over 3 decades. 

"I mean Hacker will be alerted that he is really dumb and doesn't really know what he is doing. Far better perhaps to have him think he is God, without him realizing that he is not? KCMG   GCMG and all that !!
Hacker is always at his worst when he learns/sees the next step out of kindergarten.
Even after tutoring him many times in baby steps, it still seems the public are better off when we spoon feed him. Hacker is so prone to going off half cocked!
God help us make sure he does not realize what is really happening. 

Its diplomacy yes, but it's a lot more than that, We only stay in the job if we can prosecute the public good. ( The tragedy of our time in May 2023 is that there seems no place for us).   In my case, the job was the public good in relation to the hardworking soil water plants animals and sometimes, sadly, the less predictable but still to be dealt with freeloading "vermin ".

I am writing this mainly today as Prince Charles is about to become our figurehead of servitude ...... because there is a great new series on Netflix called "THE DIPLOMAT ".  Watch it !


You have a good day now and pray that our children will continue to be wise as serpents; finding ways to be really good at what they do; finding the substance and the substantial amongst the sentimental ( being good scientists, reporters and people persons) in spite of the fact that they have to work amongst wolves.

  Rowan    How can a party that allows a shallow inexperienced ideologue like Malcolm Turnbull become Prime Minister / I thought they were tougher than that 

Mache : It's what all parties have to do to appeal to the margins.
Have a nice looking bloke who talks simplicities but knows nothing and can be pushed around when the election is over, when realism takes over again .  

Rowan  So how did all these other wolves in sheep clothing get into the party?(Rebels who resisted the adoption of the religious Discrimination Bill 10th Feb 2022 )  Haven't the left got the numbers to do what they like ? Why do these people who think themselves progressive have to work amongst conservatives ? 

Mache   yes they have numbers , but they don't have the intellectual grip.   They don't really know what they wanna do . The people can sometimes smell a dead end like they have with the Greens and their other worldly agendas .  Remember they are reactionaries;  they seldom  have a view of how to construct things 

Rohan  Doesn't say much for the Libs though-- allowing the single minded disingenuous into the fold . Many of its adherents are big picture thinkers and know a bit about how to construct and create.
Too busy to get involved with the world of unreality that seems to envelope the talkfests?

The people  have no confidence in politicians;; that's the key.  The reality of not standing up straight all the time --to watch those Premier' s play dice with covid numbers is enough to remind us that the children are indeed ,in charg. 

Rohan  yes  which  is all the more reason Morrison needs to stand up and confess that the only way forward is working together.  No back foot reactionary stuff.

Morrison  needs to State his commitment to realistic energy supply problems and top it off with MORE

Rohan     Conservative party advisor to the PM   The talk is that you have failed in your duty to provide leadership for the country in a crisis.  Instead of grabbing the opportunity to lead under the security powers of the constitution  ( like you can use for Biosecurity issues)   you have let the Shires do there own thing ,

You let the locked down closet bureau run that dumb easy precautionary principle PP  to the point where no-one leaves home and no-one takes any risks . ( except party faithful)  their method works --but its not right and not real world management . Children's class , They have been doing this for decades. 

Bern   it just stops the bureau and the bosses from  being accused  of being careless . That's whose interests the PP is protecting. The fact that most people in the meeting have no real experience of managing a crisis doesn't change the governments view that" it knows what it is doing" .   


Rohan Now most  people can't even travel around the country and the making and braking of rules  made by these tin pot powers is a deep running sore with the people. They trusted us and now they see attention seekers everywhere running for cover . 

The people are smart enough to eventually see that any pretend parent who keeps making or changing the rules is unfit for governing and has lost control already .

As for writing the prescription to control the next pandemic - no-one will know there is a new crisis because they will be too busy having meetings to decides how and when its likely to start .
And by the time the sacred information source committees  give the order to start the trucks rolling the evil thing will have again escaped and be running like wildfire -- just as it does with all the new emerging  emergency agencies (EA's)  now growing and  sitting around waiting for something to happen

The CMO's job is to coordinate,  and the higher that coordination goes the less crap , big noting and confusion crawls into the system.( heads nodding around the room ) get rid of some of your ministers who only think they know things  and show some backbone - you have the constitution and right process on your side.

Alec Not much . you have let the silly attention children have their way . Eventually the people will see that that is what has been happening  - maybe after Christmas they will see the game more clearly . 

 Maybe you can foreworn the public of Fed move to review the states and your attempts to mange the crisis  in the new year . You are not just confessing you are showing realism - no-one knew exactly what to do . 

Sir H    That way the people will also see the haste that makes for waste and the many mistakes that these quick fix merchants have now put into law .
Eventually the same old worry warriors and their attendants will be seen to be who they really are  

Bern I wonder whether the Deep South group asked experienced epidemiologists whether  the emperor's  last capture methods were any better than his first .  
Sir H   if you look at this Well being bill   it seems 0to just e about the size of the prison - nothing about what the prisoners and the free can  do to help themselves ..   Governance that provides paying jobs for public servants . . 
Bern    And someone might dare to ask the cost benefit of all the testing tracing and forever chasing  of one evil object -  that what what epidemiologists were all ways telling us - That CV ' variants s were always something we have to live  .
